Vitamin B12 – Essential nutrient for brain health. Vegans MUST take B12 because the vegan diet is not rich in this nutrient. Some vegan processed foods contain additive B12, e.g. the so-called fortified plant-based milks. However, B12 supplemental tablets are a better guarantee.
Vitamin D – Essential nutrient that is largely made by the skin when exposed to the sun. Only a few minutes a day (longer in colder seasons, also longer for people of darker skin colors) can suffice for a daily dose of Vitamin D.
